PLAY CARIBBEAN STUD POKER LIVE
Ready for a challenge? Play Caribbean Stud Poker at 888 LIVE Casino and go head-to-head against the dealer for the best 5-card hand. This game turns convention on its head; it's player versus dealer in a battle royal for the best hand.
Your professionally-trained dealer is ready to welcome you to the action, with a big smile and high fives. All players at the poker table engage with the dealer, one-on-one as the action unfolds. Since this game is all about the player versus dealer interaction, you'll be pleased to know that our dealers are hand-picked from the best of them.
Live Caribbean Stud Poker is played much like its land-based equivalent, where both the player and dealer receive 5 cards. The player's cards are dealt face up, while all but 1 of the dealer's cards are dealt face down.
Here's the challenge: Should you fold, or call, based on the strength of your hand, and the dealer’s upcard. It's possible to win incredible payouts in Caribbean Stud Poker. Payouts as big as 1000:1 are possible with a Royal Flush with the 5 + 1 Bonus. Such is the payout potential in this wildly entertaining casino card game, it's reeling in players from Vancouver to Québec, and everywhere in between.
While this game plays out, you will be presented with an enticing selection of side bets. These include the 5+1 Bonus Bet, a whopper if you can win it. With this bet, your hand + the dealer’s up card must combine to form at least Three of a Kind, or better. Make no mistake about it – if you're up for some action, this game will give you plenty of play!

HOW TO PLAY LIVE CARIBBEAN STUD POKER
Remember the King of The Poker Ring, Texas Hold'em Poker? Caribbean Stud Poker is a variation of this masterclass game. But there is a critical difference between the two games. Caribbean Stud Poker is played between player and dealer, not amongst players themselves. Much like other variants of poker your goal is simply to form a higher-ranking 5-card hand than the dealer. It doesn't matter what other players are holding.
888 live Caribbean Stud Poker games can accommodate an unlimited number of players. Of course, there's just 1 seat per player. That's how we keep it straight.
RULES OF LIVE CARIBBEAN STUD POKER
A single deck of cards is used in live Caribbean Stud Poker. That's 52 cards without the Jokers. The dealer will shuffle the cards after every round, to keep you on your toes. Play begins with the placement of an initial bet known as the Ante Bet. Next up, the dealer will deliver 5 cards face up to each player in turn. The dealer deals himself/herself 4 cards face down with the final card dealt face up.
Your decision at this point is simple. Do you Fold your current hand and forfeit your Ante Bet? Or, will you Call? If you decide to Call, you will continue in the round by placing another bet known as a Call Bet which is 2X the value of the Ante Bet. Remember, if you fold your hand, you can always come into the next hand that gets dealt.
Once you have acted, the dealer will flip over the remaining 4 face-down cards. That's the big reveal! The winning hand is decided by a poker hand rankings chart. If your 5 card hand is stronger than the dealer’s 5 card hand, you win. That's how easy it is to play Live Caribbean Stud Poker.
CARIBBEAN STUD POKER SIDE BETS
Side bets are optional bets. You don't have to play them if you don't want to. But, they pay handsomely when they come good. The 5+1 Bonus is one of the best-paying side bets out there. This is how it works: If your 5 cards + dealer’s first face-up card can create at least Three of a Kind or better, you win. That means you need a trip or a stronger hand to scoop the pot on this bet.
When you start a new hand, you'll be given the option to place a 5+1 Bonus side bet. It costs extra, but when it pays out it’s well worth it. Once 888casino Canada has accepted your 5+1 Bonus side bet, the position on the table will be illuminated as active.
WINNING HAND COMBINATIONS
- Individual hands in the game are ranked from highest to lowest, in this order: Ace (1 or 11), King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2
Aces can assume the value of a high card as in Ace-King-Queen-Jack-10 Straight, or a low card as in 5-4-3-2-Ace. Both are Straights, but the high-value straight with the Ace high is the stronger hand.
Hand rankings from Strongest to Weakest include the following:
- A Royal Flush – Ace-King-Queen-Jack-10 all in the same suit (Diamonds, Hearts, Spades, or Clubs).
- A Straight Flush – 5 cards in sequential order of the same suit, such as 7-6-5-4-3. The highest straight flush wins if both dealer and player have a Straight Flush.
- Four of a Kind – otherwise known as quants. This includes Four cards of the same rank and a fifth card which isn't. You could have 4 X Kings and a 2. Naturally, the highest Four of a Kind wins if both player and dealer have Four of a Kind.
- A Full House – Similar to the TV show, there are pairs and trips in the mix. A pair and a trip are needed to form a Full House. The highest Full House wins if the dealer and the player have a Full House. A Full House could be 2, 2, 5, 5, 5.
- A Flush – All 5 cards in the hand are of the same suit, but they’re not in sequence. An example is King-8-6-4-Ace of spades. The highest Flush always wins. If the high card is the same in both Flush hands, then the next high card is compared, and so on.
- A Straight – Any 5 sequential cards made up of at least two suits such as Diamonds and Clubs. If there is only one suit, it’s a Straight Flush. Straights are compared by high cards, or the next high card in the Straight.
- Three of a Kind – Also known as Trips or Triple. These are 3 cards of the same rank. The remaining two cards can assume any other value, as long as they don’t form a pair. The highest ranking Three of a Kind always wins.
- Two Pairs – 2 cards of one rank and 2 cards of another rank, plus a fifth card. Two Pairs are ranked according to the hand ranking chart per card: Aces high and 2s low. If 2 Pairs are compared, then the high Top Pair wins. If both hands have the same Top Pair, then the higher Second Pair is compared.
- A Pair – A hand with a pair has 2 cards of the same rank and three other cards that don’t help to form any other combinations. The highest pair is Ace-Ace, and the lowest is 2-2. If player vs dealer reveals 2 equal pairs, then the kicker cards are compared.
- High Card – As the name suggests, the high card is simply the highest card in a 5-card hand. If the hand is Jack-8-6-3-2, then Jack is the high card. When comparing high card hands, the highest high card wins.
QUALIFYING HANDS
In Caribbean Stud Poker, the dealer must have an Ace + King or better to qualify. Therefore, the lowest-qualifying hand would be Ace-King-4-3-2, and the highest-qualifying hand would be Ace-King-Queen-Jack-10. If the dealer qualifies and beats you, you will lose the Ante + Call bet. If the dealer doesn’t qualify, you will win even money (1:1). If the dealer qualifies, and you beat the dealer, then. You’ll win even-money on your Ante Bet, and the payout on your Call bet will depend on the strength of the hand you formed. If a Tie ensues between player and dealer, then it’s a Push.
